DANCE NOTICE…….

With regrets Jean and I will not resume the “CARS” Club activities. Jean does not need the stress of putting together and funding all the activities we were doing in the past. She certainly does not need the stress brought on by the efforts of some in local clubs and associations of trying to destroy what we were attempting to accomplish with square, round, and line dancing. Her doctors said that she needs to eliminate as much stress as possible from her life.

We appreciate all those who supported what we were doing and those who attended our dances. We especially want to thank the core group who made the “CARS” Club possible. We will continue to dance as soon as Jean feels her strength is back to allow her to do so. We plan on dancing in as many places as possible. We know that will require us to go out of town as some local clubs will not allow you to dance unless you are a member of their club. This eliminates dancers from dancing with other local clubs on a regular bases, in which they are not members even if they offer to pay at each dance they attend. The Birmingham area clubs do a good job in supporting each other’s club dances and they always welcome visitors no matter how many times they attend.

We will also work with some local groups that have asked for some help putting some dance programs together. We may sponsor a special dance occasionally with National callers, but not on a regular schedule.

We will continue to occasionally have gatherings at our house on Saturdays and anyone will be welcome to attend these events.

We hope the local clubs and associations can grow and build back to the sizes they were a few years back, but most of all we hope the local clubs and associations will pull together to build square dancing and support other clubs and associations. Square dancing will not survive without the efforts of all clubs and associations working together toward the same cause. It may take some swallowing of pride and changing some old ways to accomplish this. It may even take the changing of leadership. If local clubs and associations don’t support other clubs and associations you cannot expect them to support you.

We will continue to use the “CARS” web site: www.carsdancing.com, which links to www.centralalroundsnsquares.com, to support square, round and line dancing and dance events in the Southeast. We welcome anyone who is having a special event, a special club dance, club schedule, or class schedule to email them to us at cjman@bellsouth.net and we will list them under “Dance Events” on our web site. I want to thank Jim Wolfe for his help on the initial set up of the web site and a special thanks to Tom Ray for his help in redesigning and maintaining the web site for most of the past year.

We appreciate all those who kept Jean in your prayers while she was going through her treatments and please continue to pray for her. She appreciates all the calls, cards, visits, emails, and message board notes she received during this time.

Thank you,

Comer & Jean Stockman
